01/03/2025 - price changes are going in slowly because the database seems to be taking them in slowly and timing out every post. Fixed the Compared Statistics page's error. That hurt. I was referring to two numerical months ago from the current month. January is month number one so two numerical months ago is month number negative one. The system was trying to convert -1 into a month of the year. Nope. Error. So I indicated the calendar month we were in and got the CALENDAR month two months ago first, then used that months number. That works now. So... Community Pricing has had its first Y2K bug where we did actually experience the resulting cataclysm. Now that we are post-apocalyptic, we're going to be alright.
12/08/2024 - changes to the layout of the opening page
Some changes in advertisement placement.
New advertiser PERFORMDTC INC., a member of Amazon Sellers will have the ads of their products featured prominently on this website.
Replaced content of front page modality to feature list of inflations as a summary of the inflation page.
06/20/2024 - The "Food" category that we have been using is now considered as "Food At Home" and will show up in the labelling. This label change better describes that category to which we had been referring.
I had been struggling to set up a better statistics comparison page. I am near the completion of that now.
05/09/2024 - New Page showing some of our website's statistics against some outside sources of statistics. I now have some from the US Department of Labor's website. This has a text section below with some rational as to the differences of the above. I expect there to be wide discrepancies for a host of reasons.
05/09/2024 - This is actually a new website publication to which the same URL, website address, that you use points. The web address that my viewers use, and from which viewers can view all pages, same as before, www.community-pricing.com, but you may notice that the root URL is different.
The dairy category is now titled dairy (and eggs) as I have included eggs with the dairy category all along.
Introducing... Housewares - Hardware! as a new category. There is currently only two products located at only one vendor, but this is useful in computing inflation and in showing changes in the price of this over time.
12/28/2023 - Miscellaneous Retail - Stationery is now Office Supplies. Miscellaneous Retail - Art Supplies is now Retail - Art Supplies
12/24/2023 - Now we can compare prices in the past at each vendor; for the past year, two past, and for the original year that we have data. Note that the prices for those years are themselves averages.
12/13/2023 - Some data that had caused large inflation figures to be calculated were removed. If the price of a particular product increases or decreases significantly in too short a period of time, it will produce very large swings in inflation for its category. While those same prices may have been observed correctly, may have been calculated correctly, and may represent their time period as fairly as possible, they will, however, tend to produce an improbable inflation figure to represent that time period. To remove those inconvenient figures, this author feels, is statistically sound.
